How to turn off Windows Defender Easily

There is an easy way to temporarily or permanently disable Windows Defender. However, it is not permanent because it can be re-activated manually at any time. Let’s look at each method. You can choose the method that suits you best.

Disable Windows Defender using the Security Center

Using the Security Center will temporarily disable Windows Defender. That is, if your computer appears to be at risk, Windows Defender may automatically turn it on again.

Turn off Windows Defender using registry (Permanent)

If you are looking for a more permanent solution to this annoying Windows Defender program, use the registry. This will completely disable Windows Defender until you manually turn it on again.

Note: When you look in the registry, lightly step on it. Improper registry processing can permanently ruin your system. Back up your information before proceeding with this method.

Step 1. Open the registry

Use the keyboard shortcut to open the Run command. Windows key + R. Type “regedit” and click OK.

You may see a pop-up window asking if you want to allow this app to change your device. Click [Yes].

Step 2. Take the following path

Copy and paste the following address path into the search bar at the top of the window and press Enter.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE AND SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows Defender

Step 3. Right-click the Windows Defender folder, select New from the drop-down menu, and select DWORD Price (32-bit).

Do this only if DisableAntiSpyware is not included in the folder. If so, you can go to step 5.

4. Name it DisableAntiSpyware and hit Enter

The new item appears in the folder and the text is highlighted. Delete the current text and type DisableAntiSpyware. Then press Enter. The item is stored in the folder.

5. Double click DisableAntiSpyware and change ‘0’ to ‘1’

Double-click the new DisableAntiSpyware item. A DWORD editing window will appear. Enter 1 in the Price Data field. Click OK.

6. Restart your device

Restart the Windows device to install the new edits. This will completely disable Windows Defender.

Note: If you want to enable Windows Defender in the future, perform steps 1-2, right-click DeleteAntiSpyware and select Delete. A warning appears – Click Yes. Restart your computer. Windows Defender is now back on.
